Unfiltered bio
My old bio was great – entirely accurate – but kinda stiff. So take a seat, learn a little about me. The real me. The Unfiltered me.
Take it or leave it. What you see is what you get. That’s pretty much how I live my life. You’ll hear me say in conversation “sorry, I have no filter”. That’s where this whole Sydney: Unfiltered thing came into play.
For starters – I don’t know much about moderation. If I stop doing something, then I start back up again, it’s like I’m making up for lost time. It was like that when I used to smoke cigarettes. Gross right? That’s kind of how I was brought up. Half-assing it isn’t allowed. Go hard or go home.
Skydiving is a huge part of my life, as you’ll come to find out. There isn’t anything more relaxing and mind-clearing than a jump out of a perfectly good airplane. And, skydivers are a rare breed. Single-handedly the ballsiest group of people I’ve ever met, and the rewards are amazing. If you can jump out of a plane for fun, you can handle just about anything that life throws at you.
I love lists. Be it a to-do list, a bucket list, whatever kind of list you prefer – that actual moment where you cross it off is so… refreshing. I prefer to cross things out in Sharpie. Make it official, you know?
I have a lot to give. Love, for example. I don’t really see a difference between love that you show a person and love that you claim to have for your job, your hobbies, favorite food, etc. A lot of people scoff when I say I love my job. I really do. But I also love my life outside of the office. I’m hitting that quarterlife crisis point – where I am in the process of reevaluating what is important to me, what I stand for, and where I want life to take me.
I’m a geek at heart. Is geek the right word? Or am I a nerd? I’m not socially awkward – I just like gadgets and technology and, well, clearly the Internet. Most of my waking hours are spent online. It’s what I do. Back in the day of AOL chatrooms, that made me weird. Now it got me a job. So there.
I dig relationships. Not just like “ooh I have a boyfriend” relationships. Let me be more specific – I love people. I love building relationships, fostering them, introducing people, whatever. I need social interaction to survive. I think that’s why I love my job so much. It’s what I do for a living.
I kinda live for this blog. Conversations that I have offline and online drive the content here. I’ll write about anything I can get passionate about. One day it’s mindcrushes, the next might be about something totally random, like ponies. Or cactuses (cacti?). Or digitally-nerdtastic stuff. Who knows? Just know that if you engage with me, what you say or do can and probably will be used for inspiration for something here. You’ve been warned.
