3Ring Media

What is 3Ring Media?

That’s a very good question, actually.

I decided pretty quickly after discovering skydiving that working wasn’t for me. At least not the “work 9-5, Monday through Friday” kind of working. Now don’t get me wrong, I work hard. But what I do now is hardly considered work because I love it so much.

3Ring Media came to be as a result of me pursuing an opportunity to join the team at Chicagoland Skydiving Center to head up the marketing and events. Essentially, CSC was my first client, but I worked with them full-time. During my time there, I was figuring out what it takes to put on amazing events (in skydiving they’re called “boogies”), and market to a very niche community.

So, for the sake of talking, 3Ring Media is a work in progress. But it’s also a sweet little consultancy (me), that can help you or your small business get up to speed with all things social media and marketing. Shoot me an email if you’re interested in working together. Because I’m definitely interested in hearing from you. Let’s do this.

Is your business amazeballs? Are you marketing your face off? 3Ring Media can help bring you or your super sweet business to life online, where all of your potential customers are already hanging out. Straight up social media awesomesauce, no bullshit.

So what are you waiting for? Are you ready to take your existing plans and strategies up a notch? Or maybe you don’t even have plans? Don’t worry about it, that’s why I’m here. Let’s chat. Shoot me an email or schedule some time to talk below.

So we asked members of the Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC), an invitation-only nonprofit organization comprised of the country’s most promising young entrepreneurs, this question:

13 Location Based Marketing Tips for Entrepreneurs

You want to deliver marketing content that packs a punch and drives sales, but you don’t have a lot of money to spread around. You might want to consider geo-targeting, aka location-based marketing.

Five years ago “checking in” was unheard of. Today people battle to be Duke or Mayor on sites like Yelp andFoursquare. Marketers, business owners and consumers agree, less area is more.

Still, location-based marketing isn’t about jumping on a bandwagon. After all, geo-targeting can be daunting, even for the web-savvy. Should I reward check-ins on Yelp, Foursquare or both? Where should I target my marketing efforts? How long before I can expect results?

Check out these 13 tips for leveraging geo-targeting from successful, young entrepreneurs that have already tackled these questions, and more.

What Should I Look For In A Mentor — Answer #9 — What Niche Do They Fill?

“In every mentoring relationship there should be a clear definition of what kind of mentor they will be. Are they giving career advice? Relationship advice? Financial advice? Some mentors may cover a variety of topics, others will be very specific on one. That is why it’s important to have more than one mentor. The more advice you can get and sort through, the better off you’ll be.”

10 Companies That Hit The Bullseye with Online Contests

Online contests and sweepstakes can be great for business. Besides creating a fun customer experience, consider the lure of increased publicity, the spike in traffic to your website, and all those shoutouts on Facebook and Twitter.

But for every online contest success story, you’ll also encounter a story of doom. The angry emails, phone calls, tweets and Yelp reviews. The sharp drop in traffic following a so-so spike, the total lack of interest and participation. And worst of all, loss of money or reputation.

The key to a successful online contest is planning — you can’t wing it and expect to succeed just because you’re giving something away. Freebies come a dime a dozen. You know what doesn’t? Online contests that generate lasting sales.

I asked 10 successful entrepreneurs to share contests that caught their eyes in 2011, and why they thought these contests presented genuine business wins.
