#ImAwesome: Ed Cabellon
Today, I introduce you the fourth dose of awesomesauce, Ed Cabellon.
Who is he? Ed Cabellon, a higher-ed rockstar, bringing the social space into higher education – which is not an easy task!
Ed says: “I’m the most passionate person you’ll ever meet, and because I move at warp speed, be prepared to keep up. I’m a family man first, focused on setting a good example for my two young girls. Because I’m vertically challenged (5’4″ on a good day), the best description anyone ever gave me was that I was like a ‘dime’ thrown in with a bunch of ‘nickels’: half the size, but worth twice as much.
”
What does he do? “My professional career has been spent working in Higher Education “Student Affairs” areas such as Residence Life, Student Activities, Greek Life, and Orientation. Today, I am Director of theCampus Center at Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts (@BSCCampusCenter) Every day, I build campus community (both in-person and online), develop current and future leaders, and actively participate in social media to professionally share and grow. On the side, I founded a small consulting company called LTE Consulting, Inc. (@LTEConsulting) where I provide Leadership and Technology training for students and staff from Student Affairs offices at other colleges. Oh, and since I LOVE golf, I also coach the Stonehill College Golf Team.
Every day, I’m surrounded by amazing, passionate people who keep me feeling young, focused and never satisfied. <———- That.Is.Awesome. ”
Why is he awesome? “I’m awesome because I bring out the best in you. Ask any of the hundreds of students and staff members I’ve worked with or spoken to over the past 13 years. I’ve made it my life’s work to challenge and support people in their pursuit of personal and professional development. Some people build websites, others build businesses…. I build leaders, knowing they will leave their mark on the world.”
Sydney says: Ed is no joke. He’s one heck of a game-changer. I love seeing his passion for higher education and his work burst out of his tweets and our conversations. I really think he sums it up when he says “I’m awesome because I bring out the best in you.” Totally true! That, and, there’s nothing wrong with being vertically challenged (I’m 5’3 myself).
